If the heat treatment of the stainless steel corrosion resistant pump is not appropriate, the hot nitric acid will cause intergranular corrosion of austenite and ferritic stainless steel. Therefore, appropriate heat treatment can be used to prevent this type of corrosion, or to use stainless steel that is resistant to this type of corrosion.
