If the centrifugal pump is not in the efficient area during operation, or the flow and lift of the pump can't meet the need, we can use the way of changing the pump performance or changing the required lift curve or both to move the working point to make it meet the requirement. This method is called the regulation of the working point of the pump. The commonly used adjustment methods include variable speed regulation, variable diameter adjustment, variable angle adjustment, throttle regulation and so on.

One, variable speed regulation

Two, variable diameter adjustment

After the impeller is turning, the performance of the pump will change according to a certain rule, so that the pump's working condition point will be changed. The method of turning the impeller to change the working point of the pump is called variable diameter adjustment.

3, three, variable angle adjustment

Changing the installation angle of the blade can change the performance of the pump, so as to achieve the purpose of changing the working point of the pump. The way to change the working point is called the variable angle adjustment of the pump.

4, four, throttling

For the pump unit installed on the outlet valve of the outlet pipe, the local valve resistance is increased when the gate valve is closed, and the characteristic curve of the pipeline becomes steeper. The operation point moves along the Q-H curve of the pump to the upper left side. The smaller the gate valve is, the greater the resistance to increase, the smaller the flow becomes. This method of changing the working point of the pump by closing the small gate valve is called the throttle regulation or the variable valve regulation.

When the valve is closed, the local water head loss increases, the characteristic curve of the pipe system moves to the upper left, and the pump operating point is also moving to the left. The smaller the gate valve is, the greater the loss of the local head, the smaller the flow will be. Therefore, the throttling regulation not only increases the loss of local water head, but also reduces the amount of water, which is very uneconomical. But because of its simple and easy operation, it is widely used in the performance test of small pump and pump.
