How to check the leakage of the inlet pipe of the self suction pump

Self suction centrifugal pump relies on high speed rotation of impeller to pump low pressure area in the self suction pump, so the centrifugal pump must ensure that its inlet pipe does not leak, that is, the outside air can not enter the intake pipe. Otherwise, it will not only affect the water pump efficiency, but also produce serious vibration and noise during the operation of the pump.

If the water pump work, insufficient water or no water, we should first consider whether the water inlet pipe for sand holes, cracks or joints is not tight into the air, and carries on the observation, to find out the air inlet. Some defects are very subtle, the naked eye directly to find hard to find, but no result is often time-consuming trouble. In this paper, some simple and easy methods to check the leakage of the inlet pipe of the pump are introduced.

Method: a duck feather fluff, close to the air inlet of the suspect in the pump operation, observe the duck hair fluttering. In the same way, a light cigarette can be used to operate this method. Help search by the drifting direction of the duck's fluff and the smoke.

Oil method: for the inaccessible intake points, a small amount of oil can be applied to the presumed intake part, and the oil is quickly sucked away at the inlet.

Measures to prevent the intake of self suction centrifugal pump

1. the installation position of the self suction pump should be as close to the water as possible to ensure that the air is not absorbed when the water level falls.

2. when installing suction pipe, the intake transverse pipe should be slightly downward or horizontally installed in the direction of incoming water. Any inlet pipe must not be higher than the inlet of the pump, otherwise the air in the pipe will not be excluded.

3. to prevent gas leakage from the filling culvert. The tightness of the packing culvert should be suitable. If it is loose, the packing gland should be tightened. The damage and failure of the filler should be replaced in time. The sealing pipe and the heating of the water seal pipe at the packing part will cause the packing to cover the leakage and the water seal pipe should be cleaned.

4., before installing the water inlet pipe connected by flanges, clear the contact surfaces of the 2 flanges, add 1 3~5mm thick pads in the middle, and tighten the bolts gradually by symmetry and several times.

5. self suction water pump valve must have sufficient submergence depth, from the plane is 1.5~2 times valve should be equal to the outer diameter of the valve at the end of the submerged depth, at least not less than 0.5m. If the submergence is too shallow, it is easy to form a whirlpool, thus sucking into the air, causing cavitation and damaging the impeller and pump shell. If the water level of the water pump falls quickly when the water level is found, a few boards can be put on the water to reduce the vortex and prevent the air from entering the pump shell.

6. self suction pump body is provided with a deflated plug for discharging, tap the same available thread size instead of the gas plug, open the faucet to bleed.

7. the vacuum degree of the water suction mouth of the self suction pump is limited, and the vacuum is too big. It is easy to vaporize the water of the pump, and it is unfavorable to the self suction pump. Therefore, each water suction pump has its maximum allowable suction range, which is generally in 3~8.5m and should be controlled in this range.

8. pay attention to the exhaust. At the start of self-priming pump should be added before the foot of water, to eliminate the self suction water pump in the air; usually should be regularly open the bleeder screw on the pump cover, remove the accumulation in the air inside.
